Payson Road Ambassadors

Represent Payson Road by bringing our mission to your community.  The Ambassadors Program is a great way to get involved and make a real difference it helps spread the word by getting people into the community and working directly to educate people about the seriousness of eating disorders.  You also have the opportunity to strut your creativity as you design your own program (in conjunction with Payson Road).

Ambassadors Program:

Annual Membership Fee:  $65

Participation Requirements:
Must create and implement a communal program that increases awareness and/or educates people about eating disorders, and/or directly involves or aids people with eating disorders.

The program can be elaborate or simple but it must involve community outreach and must have some element of public education about eating disorders.  All programs must be non-profit.  Proceeds can only be applied toward overhead of event or program and/or benefit The Payson Road Organization.

Ambassadors must complete the Payson Road Ambassadors Training Program which simply involves learning more information about eating disorders and Payson Road's programs.

Here are some program examples:

Run/Walk
Community Fair or Bizarre
Raffles
Concerts or theatrical events
Flyer Distribution
Writing Groups, Improve Groups
Put on a Play!
School Programs and Lectures

Be creative!   We encourage and welcome your ideas.

Why Join Payson Road?

Be Part of a Community that Cares

Everyone at Payson Road is motivated by a deep sense of responsibility to bringing about large scale attention and change in the way society prevents, treats and views eating disorders.  We take an active role in guiding people through recovery.  We are committed to it.  We do not simply offer up statistics and resources.  We have an abundance of resources but we have something that nobody else does.  We have a creative soul.  And we believe in recovery through the creative process.  We offer outlets for people to express their creativity.  And a place for them to share and seek support and understanding.  This is rare.  Being part of the Payson Road community is being part of a unique experience.  We pride ourselves on doing it with heart.

That Thing We Do

We provide you with resources, tools, information, support groups, workshops, creative outlets for expressing yourself.  We give you hope.  Whether your a parent, a friend, a loved one of someone with an eating disorder or someone who is struggling themselves.  We let you know you are not alone and not a statistic.

We stay on the cutting edge constantly in search of new and progressive treatments and keeping up with the latest research and information - we do our homework so you don't have to.

We expand your mind and body through our Mind and Body resource programs.

We give you the facts, without all the crap.

We publish your articles!  We publish your poems!  We publish your story and give you a forum to get instant feedback and support.   We support your creativity with the hopes that it will guide you toward recovery.  And if you don't have an eating disorder but want to write, we don't discriminate,!  You don't have to have an uncle in the industry to get your article published.  If you want exposure, you got it - 50,000 hits a day ain't bad.

You can find a complete list of our Creative Resources under Programs and Services.  And a full list of our Eating Disorder Resources.

Advocacy

Payson Road takes an active role in advocating eating disorder awareness, treatment and prevention through public events, lobbying activities, alliance and participation with national organizations involved in policy making and action, distributing information to the public, providing resources to parents, educators, state and local governmental representatives, the public and the media.  We will not stop till this word has been spread!

Community Outreach

Payson Road provides access to community involvement through its many programs and events.  There are many different ways you can get involved and make a difference for this cause - workshops, school programs, events.  Be a Payson Road Ambassador - represent Payson Road and bring our mission to your community.

Here's more info on our Events and Programs and Services that you can be a part of.

Payson Road is Cool!

....to put it bluntly.  We are compassionate and understanding of what it means to have an eating disorder which is why so many people have joined our community and keep coming back.  The number of  hits we receive are not growing this fast for nothing. We've created a virtual online community.   This is not a one-purchase shopping place.  We've been successful because people come back.  Payson Road is like a  home.  We started with nothing, no funding, no professional affiliations.  We are still a work in progress - seeking funding.  But the site and the organization have achieved tremendous growth in a very short period of time thanks to the commitment, hard work and passion of our team.

We care to understand.  We are motivated by a deep sense of responsibility to bringing about large scale attention and change in the way society prevents, treats and views eating disorders.
